A 75-year-old died after a fire in a retirement home in Heilbronn in Baden-Württemberg. The resident was taken to the hospital by helicopter, police said. He died in the evening from his severe smoke and burn injuries.

Another resident, aged 93, also suffered serious smoke and burn injuries as a result of the fire, it said. He was taken to the hospital in the ambulance. A 79-year-old resident was slightly injured by the smoke.

On Monday afternoon there was a fire in one of the rooms on the first floor of the home for reasons that are still unclear. The fire department ended the operation on Monday evening. According to the information, the building was not completely evacuated. Criminal Investigation Department took over the investigation.
