Rudi Völler was of the opinion that it was not the artist who should speak for the work, but rather the work of art for itself, and that is why after the final whistle he only briefly hugged the opponent’s coach and disappeared into the dressing room area of the Dortmund stadium. He stayed there for half an hour until he suddenly reappeared, outside in the floodlights.
