Åge Hareide appreciate the support he and Jon Dahl Tomasson have received from the Danish players.
“Had we not had it, we were probably have been kicked out long ago,” he notes.
In an interview with the Newspaper put the Norwegian thus another layer on the controversy surrounding his final time as the Danish national coach. It occurred when DBU in the summer announced that Kasper Hjulmand takes over the job after this summer’s european championship finals.
the Announcement came in the middle of the EM-qualification, and Åge Hareide says in the interview with the Norwegian media, that the timing ’caused unrest, it is no doubt about that’.
the Norwegian stresses in the interview that he has an ‘o.k. relation’ to the DBU leadership and that he ‘behave professionally’.
On a question on, whether he thinks that it is strange that he is not allowed to continue in the job, reads the answer from Åge Hareide short and good:
“Yes.”
The Norwegian coach says, however, also on the final time, that culminates with a three-EM-matches on home turf in the Park for the summer.
“It is important for us to leave Denmark on the best possible way. Hjulmand is an excellent trainer. The team is in the best hands,” says Åge Hareide, who has said recently that he is considering to stop completely when he is finished as Danish national coach.
He has not lost in his past 34 matches at the head of the Danish national team.
Denmark is summer in the EM-group with Russia, Belgium and Finland.
