Since the Norwegian princess Märtha Louise in the spring was the girlfriend of the american shaman Durek Verrett, the media has brought the one critical story about the shaman after the other.

The 44-year-old self-proclaimed shaman is, for example, been accused of quackery. Now the gal again – this time because he is trying to control the press.

the Princess’s chosen one has apparently attempted to enter into agreements with the Norwegian press that he will only let himself be interviewed, if the media promises that they would not weaken his reputation.

according to an e-mail, as Durek Verretts lawyer has sent to the Norwegian NRK and VG.

In the e-mail asked Verretts lawyer, The Quenya A. Williams, the media about to sign an agreement on that in some future interview would not ‘denigrate him or his work, or try to weaken his reputation in any way’.

She also added that the shaman would not help in the interview if they did not sign the agreement.

In a subsequent mailudveksling with the Norwegian media asked the lawyer to get the questions that the media had plans to make Verrett, sent for review.

Further, she added:

‘In addition, we want you to confirm to us that you will not write or publish anything that disparages or demeans Shaman Durek, his work, princess Märtha or the royal family. If you can reply to this mail and these points, are we ready on an interview,’ write The Quenya A. Williams in e-mail.

It was not, however, with the Norwegian media, which would not write on the lawyer’s requirements. Yet you chose the shaman to meet up for interview.

Here it was, however, wrong.

VG chose to ask the shaman to the requirements that emerged from the lawyer’s e-mail:

“Before this interview, wrote your lawyer, The-Quenya A Williams, that you, quote, ‘insists an agreement that the media not the industry’..”

The Norwegian journalist, however, was not allowed to complete his question before he was interrupted by the shaman:

“We will end the interview now.”

in addition added the Norwegian journalist, to the e-mail, which he quoted, after all, was about the shaman’s just-released book and the process of the interview itself.

To this came Durek Verretts pr-advisor in and said that the shaman had not further comments. The interview was over.

During the interview was Durek Verrett also asked to provide among other things, a tavshedsaftale with his ex-girlfriend. The same evening sent the shaman lawyer an e-mail to Verretts editor.

In the e-mail asked the lawyer, the editor let the media know that if they should choose to write something, as Durek not subsequently be confirmed to have said, she would sue.

Norwegian VG has presented the requirements to which the lawyer asked for the interview with the Durek Verrett, Per Edgar Kokkvold, which in the past has been the chairman of The Technical Committee and the Norwegian media council, and he says about the requirements:

“the Conditions here are totally unacceptable. I know of no Norwegian editors, who would give in to such demands.”

Per Edgar Kokkvold considers, furthermore, that Verrett is a public figure, and therefore he must expect to get questions about both his business and his personal life.

Durek Verrett has before threatened with legal action.

It came to pass, for example, when a publisher chose not to publish his book, as well as a NRK satireprogram published a video, where the shaman, dressed as a caring clown, reads aloud from his own book for a kræftsygt child, who subsequently died of his illness.
