After more than halvandets years of waiting have Julehjælpen.dk finally been able to put a sentence in the case of their former president.

He is by the Court of Frederiksberg convicted guilty of forgery, breach of mandate and embezzlement with this humanitarian organisation’s money.

613.000 dollars was taken from the weakest members of society. Those who Julehjælpen.dk helps every year when the festive season is approaching.

“It is really, really a lot of money,” says current chairman of the board Henrik Hahn-Nissen and continues:

“With the money we could have given a 1,200 – maybe more than 1,400 families a complete great christmas eve with food, gifts and so on. It is what makes it all so bad.”

He and the remaining board of directors selected in the first half of 2018 to politianmelde the then president.

At the end of 2017 had found discrepancies in the financial statements, which suggested that the money between 2014 and 2017 was passed to something else, than that they were intended.

Henrik Hahn-Nissen welcomes, for it is over.

Julehjælpen.dk is an aid organization that since 2007 has helped the most congested over christmas.

But even though the case of the former president has cast a shadow over the organization, it moves forward with recovery efforts, says Henrik Hahn-Nissen. He explains that the organisation this year has seen record high levels of goodwill from individuals and businesses.

“We come in year out with the best result ever,” he says and gives concrete expression to:

“The best result would of course be if there was a need for our help. But with that said, we have never gotten so many donations in, and we have never helped so many.”
