The new minister of Health has been one of the main urdidores of the agreement of the investiture of Pedro Sanchez between the PSOE and Esquerra Republicana. Salvador Illa (La Roca del Vallès, Barcelona, 1966) assume the portfolio after an extensive experience in the public sector, where many voices to praise its work, although this has never been directly linked to the health field.
Born in La Roca del Vallès in 1966 and married, is a graduate in Philosophy from the University of Barcelona and a Master in Business Management by the IESE (University of Navarra). He has developed most of his professional career in the public sector and in the political activity. He was the mayor of la Roca del Vallès from 1995 to 2005. “It is a great negotiator and never loses the nerves”, explains a fellow party member who has participated with him in different negotiations.

Months after winning the election the sudden death of Flat took Illa to the mayor of its population, a position that later they successfully defended with an absolute majority. Another president, Pasqual Maragall (PSC), and later José Montilla told with him as the Director General of Infrastructures of the Ministry of Justice of the Generalitat of Catalonia between the years 2005 and 2009.
Between the years 2010 and 2016 has developed several functions in the town Hall of Barcelona (director of economic management in the years 2010-2011, coordinator of the municipal socialist group between the years 2011-2015 and manager of Company, Culture and Innovation by the year 2016.
