Anyone who wants to see European Football Championship games live in the stadium probably has the best chance in the upcoming first sales phase.
From Tuesday (2 p.m.) until October 26th, a total of over 1.2 million tickets for the 2024 European Championships (June 14th to July 14th) will be awarded. That’s more than in any subsequent phase. The disadvantage for the fans: With the exception of hosts Germany, they don’t know which teams they will see when they apply for October. The draw for the European Championship finals will not take place until December 2nd in Hamburg. No team has yet qualified in terms of sport.
The time of your application in the window between October 3rd and 26th does not matter. The European Football Union UEFA promises “a fair and transparent raffle”. A maximum of four tickets can be applied for per person. Ticket prices range from 30 euros (cheapest category in the preliminary round) to 1000 euros (highest category in the final in Berlin). Given the greater distance between the stadiums, fans can only get tickets for one game per day – unlike in Qatar.
There is already bad news for collectors of paper tickets: As with the World Cup in Qatar, the tickets will only be available digitally. UEFA is also drawing the consequences from the 2022 Champions League final between Real Madrid and Liverpool FC. The game started more than half an hour late because chaotic scenes took place in front of the Stade de France. Many fans didn’t come into the huge arena despite having tickets. The police used tear gas and more than 230 people were injured.
