For many French, the containment has been the synonym of a new life office… at home. Teleworking is becoming the norm, and the presence in the company, the exception ?
The time crowded public transport, the small coffee between colleagues, informal discussions in the corridors and meetings “face-to-face” would it be gone forever ? The Point gives the word to employees that tell the upheaval caused by the confinement and their new life in the office.

” From the first day of the confinement, the directors of the company have sent everyone home, with the exception of a few collaborators. All of my activities can be done at a distance, my job is to basically to prepare records, and to exchange telephone, telework, I was asked so no problem. During the first fifteen days, all employees worked full-time from home, and then from April we moved to a part-time basis, to 50 %. It was necessary to identify ourselves with our work schedules, and send the time sheets to be paid, which was somewhat new ! With this new method, the payment of our wages has been delayed, which complicated a lot of things.
But the situation has actually worsened at the end of the confinement. A few days before, we received an e-mail announcing the return of everyone in the office from the 11th of may, per half-day. It was not necessary to discuss, whether we have or not children, that we live at 500 meters, or 100 kilometers. I have the impression that the members of the management, a little embittered by this period and by the suspicion that some of them had a little shot on the side, have wanted to compensate by being excessively severe. They have told us, in the big picture : telework, it is finished. They have been criticized by some not to have been quite productive, while it was in partial unemployment !

This is the infantilization of police infiltration in the old
I wrote a very quick e-mail to the management to explain that I had children and no guard mode, since at this time the school didn’t take care of. I explained that I wanted to work at a distance, as I did in the last two months, and then return as soon as the school reopened its doors. So I asked management to take into account my situation a little special, as the government advocated, but nothing was done. I was told that I only had to ask days off or take leave without pay to take care of my kids… I cried at the school for the support all week, I even called the regional directorate of labour, who told me that the internal organization was in the hands of the employer, that, therefore, there was not much else to do.

This reaction is completely counter-productive. The management wants to catch up the faster the activity was lost during the confinement, she wishes that everyone is the most productive, but on the contrary, people feel discredited, and sickened by these practices. I’ve thought of it put me off work due to sickness, while this is not really my state of mind. Another example : we should now arrive at 9 o’clock, whereas before there was a tolerance of up to 10 hours. It is the infantilisation of police infiltration to the former ! “
