Six days I was in Mallorca. Five of them I’ve tried over the phone to get me in the home to make an appointment for a Corona Test. Because, in Majorca, I have visited many places and with dozens of people spoke. Unfortunately, my Attempts were in vain.
Monday: Corona-a Test at the doctor?
In theory, the Corona Tests are in Bavaria, “faster, for free and for everyone” to reach. At least that was the announced Prime Minister Markus Söder (CSU) at the end of June, full-bodied. I know that the family doctor is the first point of contact if you want to be tested for the Virus. On Monday morning I’m calling so when my longtime doctor in Munich-Bogenhausen, to get me an appointment right after my return from Mallorca on Friday afternoon.
the receptionist informs me that the practice only anti-body test offered. I should go to a different practice, explained the woman before she hangs up. So I find me two numbers of General practitioners in my area. In both practices, the receptionist asked me if I was patient with you. As I deny, I will be informed of each case, you would only test their own patients.
Tuesday: Department of health
A day later, it occurs to me that there are at Theresienwiese in Munich, since the beginning of the crisis, a Drive-In test station. So I ask the Internet whether I can come over Friday and spontaneously. I can’t, how do I know, because the Test is for the 5. July closed. Now you should be due to the many holiday returnees back into operation, I read then. But, unfortunately, only at 27. July – too late for me, I land on 24. July.
The Department of health of the city of Munich can help me with security, I think. A woman directs me further, because she was “not responsible”. After about two minutes of waiting a different employee stands. I describe you my Problem and question is where I can be me on Friday to test. You should recommend no Doctors, she says, and directs me to the Medical on-call service. “Can you propose practices.” I’ll call the 116 117 and fly, after I have fought again and again for minutes through automated Reports, three times from the queue.
Wednesday: state Chancellery and the Ministry of health
On Sunday, said the Prime Minister of Bavaria in the ZDF summer interview that he was planning, free test centers in the Bavarian airports. “If you come back from vacation, there is at any time free of charge test”, says Markus Söder. The test centres should emerge in the next few days, it said.
So I posed a question to the Bavarian state Chancellery: I want to know when these test centres to be opened. On the same day I receive a message from the Ministry of health, with quote of the Bavarian health Minister Melanie Huml. “We are working with the Bavarian Ministry of Finance the details of the planned test centers to Bavarian airports,” writes the Minister. A date I did not receive.
Thursday: press office, Flughafen München
Maybe the airport is in the planning already, I think, and a day later, this same question to the press office of the Munich airport Franz-Josef-Strauß. Only about two hours later, a Munich-based number calls me. It is the press Secretary of the airport. Friendly and dissipated, he explained to me that now first premises for this project must be found. “We’re in the middle of the planning, but it can really go,” he explains to me. And: “If anything, you need to ask as to the Ministry of health.”
I explain to the man that I’ve been through this and wants to hang up. Then it occurs to me that I read days ago, the Munich airport would offer Corona Tests in his Medicare Center for a whopping 190 euros. Because that to me is now but also almost doesn’t matter, I ask the nice speaker, if he knows how I can sign up to this Test. The man laughs and explains to me that it would be so in the short term – until the morning. “The are hard at work. You need to know the Medicare Center is not only for Corona here.“ In addition, you would treat it there anyway, almost only people from high-risk areas.
I try one last Time to the Medical on-call service and get through actually. I explain to the woman my concerns and will immediately interrupted: “no symptoms, I must refer you to your GP.” After I explain that my doctor offers no Corona test, it gives me three telephone numbers. I’m calling for all three practices. A with has closed Thursday afternoon, the other two parts of me, they would only test their own patients.
Friday: arrival at the airport
the day of The trip home has come and I’m still a Corona Test. At Munich airport, landed, I want to try, if I can get but spontaneously a usury-Test for 190 Euro. I ask an airport employee if I can leave me here spontaneously on the Corona Virus test. She points out to me that the offer only applies to travellers from high-risk areas, and because Mallorca is none, I get no Test. “But in Munich, you can surely test it,” she says. If the only knew, I think, and leave the airport grounds.
Probably, I’m going on Monday at the Drive-In-Test Station to the Theresienwiese in the past. But until then, I see my friend, my family and my dog.
