The men were descended from the Schrankogel in the Ötztal valley in the high Alpine terrain, as the accident happened at around 3000 meters of altitude, said a police spokesman of the dpa.
A man from the group has been associated with severe, but not life-threatening rib injury in a hospital. The other got away with minor injuries.
