In France, the airports in Lille, Lyon, Nantes, Beauvais and Toulouse were evacuated due to bomb threats. Corresponding threats were received there on Wednesday morning, the broadcaster BFMTV reported, referring to the police.
The airport closures have now been lifted in Lyon, Lille and Nice. An abandoned piece of luggage caused security forces to be called into action at Nice airport on Wednesday. The airport said operations are now back to normal.
Bomb threats have been increasing in France for several days, particularly against schools. So far, the police have not been able to discover anything unusual in any case. The Louvre in Paris was also affected by a false bomb alarm, and the Palace of Versailles again on Wednesday, for the third time. Visitors were asked to leave the castle for safety reasons. It has not yet been possible to determine who is behind the threats.
France is currently on the highest terror alert level after an Islamist-radicalized young man stabbed a teacher and injured three other people in a school in Arras on Friday. The attacker claimed responsibility for the Islamic State (IS) terrorist militia. He was overpowered and arrested by the police. There was also a bomb threat there before a memorial at the school on Monday.
