IOWA CITY (Iowa City, Iowa) — Aidan O’Connell threw 375 yards and accounted three touchdowns. David Bell received a career-high 240 yards. Purdue also continued its dominance over No. Saturday’s victory over Iowa was 24-7.

The Boilermakers (4-2 and 2-1 Big Ten) have won 4 of 5 games against the Hawkeyes (6-1, 3). This loss ended Iowa’s 12-game winning streak.

Purdue defeated its No. 1 road opponent since 1974, at No. 2 Notre Dame. This was the second consecutive time Purdue had knocked off a No. The Boilermakers were ranked 2. In 2018, the Boilermakers beat a second-ranked Ohio State at home.

O’Connell was 30 of 40 passing with two touchdowns, and ran for a score. O’Connell got the most practice on a day Purdue used Austin Burton and Jack Plummer as backup quarterbacks in certain situations. O’Connell’s 6-yard touchdown run gave the Boilermakers a 7-0 lead.

In the final minutes of the first period, O’Connell completed a 3-yard touchdown pass for TJ Sheffield to give Purdue a 14-7 lead. In the fourth quarter, he threw a 21 yard touchdown pass to Bell. Bell received 11 receptions. In three seasons, Bell has 37 receptions for 558 yards and five touchdowns versus Iowa.

Ivory Kelly Martin ran a touchdown of 3 yards for the Hawkeyes in the second quarter. Iowa also had only 271 yards of offense. Iowa had its lowest home score since 2012’s 13-7 loss at Nebraska.

NO. NO. 1 GEORGIA 30, NO.

ATHENS (GA.) — Georgia is playing its first match as the No. 1 team in the country. Stetson Bennett completed three touchdown passes, and the Bulldogs won another brutal defensive effort to defeat Kentucky.

Bennett started his third consecutive game in the place of JT Daniels who was injured. He teamed up with Brock Bowers, a freshman tight end, on a pair score.

Daniels was watching from the sidelines for the Bulldogs (7–0, 5-0 Southeastern Conference) and the senior quarterback was 14 out of 20 for 250 yard in another solid performance.

Bowers was a dynamic offensive weapon in Georgia and had five receptions for 101 yards.

Georgia’s defense allowed 2 touchdowns in a game, the first of the season. The second came with 4 seconds left after Kentucky (6-1 and 4-1) called timeout to give them one more chance at scoring.

Georgia’s defense was excellent, with Kentucky being held to 249 yards total and Georgia blocking two kicks.

NO. 12 OKLAHOMA STATE 33, NO. 25 TEXAS 24

AUSTIN (AP) — Tanner Brown’s fourth field-goal gave No. 12 Oklahoma State took the lead. Spencer Sanders’ scrambling 10-yard touchdown ran with 2:08 to play was the final touch to a win over Texas that kept the Cowboys undefeated.

Texas led by 17-3 and 23-13 after three touchdowns from Bijan Robertson, before Oklahoma State’s defense effected the Cowboys’ victory. Jaylen Warren was also a dominant force behind the Cowboys’ defense (6-0, 3-1 Big 12).

Texas (3-3, 2-2), lost a huge lead in a difficult loss for the second consecutive week. Before losing 55-48 last weekend, the Longhorns led Oklahoma by 28-7.

Brown’s kick and Jason Taylor II’s interception return of 85 yards for a touchdown in quarter two kept the Cowboys’ in the game, while Sanders and the offense struggled early.

Texas was allowed 317 yards total by the Cowboys. Warren ended the game with 193 yards of rushing, 33 carries and 154 yards during the second half rally.
