ATLANTA — Max Scherzer, the Los Angeles Dodgers’ starter in Game 6 of Saturday’s NL Championship Series against Atlanta Braves, has been announced by the Dodgers.
The announcement was made by the Dodgers on Friday night. They didn’t say why Scherzer would not start, nor did they say who will.
Atlanta leads the series with a score of 3-2.
The Los Angeles Times first reported Scratching Scherzer.
The 37-year old right-hander Scherzer was acquired by the Dodgers on July 30, from Washington, as a three-time Cy Young Award recipient.
After throwing 110 pitches in seven innings of Game 3’s 1-0 loss to the Dodgers, he threw 13 pitches in his first save in his career.
Scherzer began Game 2 against the Braves on Sunday. He did not make it to the decision. He threw 79 pitches in 4 1/3 innings. Although he admitted that he felt a little stiff after the game, he said that he didn’t think it was that serious.
