FLAGLER COUNTY FLA. — Two people sustained minor injuries when a single-engine plane crashed onto I-95 northbound Monday.
FHP issued the following statement after the crash:
The Florida Highway Patrol is currently investigating an accident that occurred northbound on I-95 near Mile Marker 279 in Florida. This is a crash involving a single-engine aircraft as well as a tractor-trailer combination.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the aircraft lost power while the pilot attempted an emergency landing on I-95 northbound lanes. The pilot attempted this maneuver when the aircraft’s wings collided with the tractor-trailer combo. He was then redirected to the tree line .”
“The pilot and copilot were able exit the aircraft without any assistance. According to reports, the pilot was travelling to Flagler Airport from New Smyrna Beach. For further investigation , federal authorities were contacted
