Ingles, a key piece in the title-contending Jazz’s title-contending Jazz was driving to the basket against the Minnesota Timberwolves in the second quarter when his left knee buckled in an incident that wasn’t contact.
As Ingles began to writhe in pain, the crowd became silent and his teammates surrounded Ingles on the court. Before long, he was taken into the arms of staff.
Unfortunately, scans revealed the worst. The Jazz informed Ingles that he will need surgery in the next weeks. The recovery period for such a procedure is usually nine to twelve months.
Jazz stated that the MRI showed that there was a tear in the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL), of his left knee. There were no structural injuries.

The 34-year old will be out of contract at season’s conclusion. He has played 635 of 650 games since joining the Jazz in 2014-15, becoming their all-time leader in points with three.
Ingles came into Sunday’s game with averaging 7.4 points and 2.9 rebounds, and 3.5 assists. He shot 40.8 percent from the floor, and 35.1 percent from deep, which is a decrease from his career-high 45.1 percentage.
He could be out of work for many years due to the injury, which is part of his $18 million one-year contract with Utah.
Ingles could have played his final game for Utah. He will be a free agent following the season. His expiring contract may also be worth something in a trade.
Ingles was acquired from the Los Angeles Clippers. Ingles has starred for Israel’s EuroLeague champions Maccabi Tel Aviv, and also spent time in Spain after starting in the NBL with Melbourne South Dragons.
