After a visit to the western region of the Algarve, I head for Albufeira, known for its beaches with emerald waters enclosed in the eroded cliffs. The villages along the coast are also very photogenic. During the summer period, lovers of the pleasures of the sun and the sea abound in this paradise of Portugal. Nevertheless, discovering it out of season has its advantages, because you can photograph certain icons without the presence of thousands of tourists in swimsuits. Moreover, some deals on accommodation may be available to you.
One evening, with a last-minute search, I found a room worth $400 a night for only a quarter of the price in Carvoeiro.
This former fishing village is perched on the side of a cliff, not far from the famous cave of Beganil, a remarkable cave due to the diversity of its arches. Carvoeiro is quieter than anywhere else in the Algarve and home to one of the most beautiful seaside promenades. With over 500 meters of walkway and spectacular caves, a hike becomes a feast for the eyes. The belvedere remains an ideal place at the end of the day. The accentuated relief of Carvoeri is revealed between sky and sea. The shades of earth colors, white and golden sand harmonize perfectly under the light of twilight.
