Isabel Tejerina, Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries, Food and the Environment, and Íñigo Méndez de Vigo, head of the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports, attended yesterday, together with Ignacio Galán, President of Iberdrola, one of the functions of the children’s play “My Clean World”, offered at Ifema by the Blanca Marsillach theater company.

After the performance, the two members of the Government were able to chat on stage with five of the 270 children who witnessed the play. Tejerina, Méndez de Vigo and Galán asked the kids about what they had seen and about their concerns regarding the environment and climate change. The director of Varela Producciones, Blanca Marsillach, producer of the work, was also present at this meeting.

The children also received a picnic basket with foods that explained the nutritional pyramid, and with which they wanted to show them the importance of a healthy and balanced diet.

“My clean world” is a musical about caring for the environment aimed at families, with which it is intended to make viewers aware of the need to combat climate change and stop the wear and tear of the planet. Blanca Marsillach’s company and Varela Producciones are sponsored by Iberdrola for this program.

The production has seven original songs and a karaoke with which the characters of the story -Cortés, the bull of Seville; Iggy the penguin; Penelope the squirrel; and Mother Earth – seek to make the public aware of ecological values. The objective is to help, through stories and songs, to make children aware of the importance of caring for the environment.

«In the work -says Blanca Marsillach- the children are told what CO2 is, solar panels, they are told about pollution, the environment, and they are instilled with the need to take care of it so that this world is more habitable »

According to the production company, «throughout 2016, “My Clean World” was seen by more than 7,280 schoolchildren in Madrid and, in addition, traveled to the Colegio Nuestra Señora del Pilar de Tetuán on the occasion of the Moving for Climate NOW cycling march, who traveled more than 1,000 kilometers by bicycle to reach the Climate Summit in Marrakech. Last March it was represented before 400 schoolchildren from Vizcaya, on the occasion of Iberdrola Week, which culminated with the holding of the group’s General Shareholders’ Meeting».
