A residence in the Chomedey district, in Laval, was completely ravaged by flames on Thursday evening.
Around 4:25 p.m., firefighters from the Association des Pompiers de Laval (APL) were notified of the start of a fire in a residence located on rue des Châtelets. It was the neighbors, worried by the black smoke, who contacted the emergency services.
“When the firefighters arrived, a column of smoke was reaching the attic of the building. Fortunately, all the occupants of the house were absent at the time of the fire,” said APL spokesperson Simon Laurin.
According to the preliminary evaluation, the house would be a total loss. The cause of the blaze is unknown at this time. “However, the heat did not help the work of the firefighters,” said Mr. Laurin.
Nearly forty firefighters took part in bringing the blaze under control.
