An 81-year-old woman drowned this Thursday in a siphon of a canal that runs through the town of Session de la Vega, in León. The Firefighters of the Leonese capital traveled yesterday to the town, belonging to the municipality of San Cristóbal de la Polantera, 48 kilometers from the municipal park, after the request of 112.
Apparently the lady used to take water from said channel, considered a common practice according to the neighbors. For some unknown reason, the octogenarian fell headfirst into the small siphon, and she was unable to get out. A patrol from the Civil Guard of Veguellina de Órbigo and health personnel from La Bañeza also traveled to the place.
