The first vice president and minister of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation, Nadia Calviño, has fulfilled this Tuesday the slogan that she launched in February by which she would not take photos with the attendees in forums or debates where she was the only woman.

Thus, she has refused to pose for a photograph with the organizers of the Madrid Leaders Forum event, held at Ifema, because she is the only woman. “There are many events in which I am the only woman because I am the minister,” she lamented a couple of months ago to argue her decision.

The first vice president has kept her word this Tuesday and at the entrance to the event organized by the Madrid Business Confederation CEIM-CEOE, Calviño has announced that she would not pose in the photograph when she realized that she was the only woman who was part of it. “I’m really sorry. We should have talked about it,” lamented the economic head of the Government.

At the end of his participation in the event, already with the presence of the general secretary of CEIM, Sara Molero, Calviño has agreed to pose for the official photograph of the forum.

Calviño announced his position at the opening of a series of events launched by the international communication and public affairs agency Hill Knowlton Strategies (H K) in February.

“We cannot continue to consider it normal that 50% of our population is not present, not to mention other types of statements and expressions that we have heard this week,” he defended at the time.

The vice president has always placed gender equality as one of the axes of the recovery plan, along with social and territorial cohesion, in addition to the transformation of the economy.
