A six-minute parade of more than 70 planes will complete Queen Elizabeth II’s coronation anniversary parade as part of her Platinum Jubilee celebrations, set to take place in June 2022, after being postponed from February. , as reported by the British Royal House.
Dozens of planes from the Royal Navy, Army and Royal Air Force will soar over Buckingham Palace on Thursday June 2, as part of the celebrations for the 70th anniversary of the monarch’s coronation, which will feature a celebration which will last for four days.
The Queen is expected to attend the flyover from the Buckingham Palace balcony with other members of the royal family, who will be active members, as well as the Duke of York and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
Although they won’t be on the balcony, Harry, Meghan and their children will be attending the celebrations, but there’s no telling what elements of the Jubilee weekend they might make an appearance for.
That means that neither his second son, Prince Andrew (62 years old), nor his grandson, Prince Harry (37 years old), nor his wife, Duchess Meghan (40 years old), will be present on the balcony, although the latter want travel from her adopted home in California to participate in the four-day celebrations.
The Ministry of Defense has detailed that more than 70 aircraft, including the ‘Red Arrows’ and aircraft used by the United Kingdom Armed Forces in operations around the world, will participate in the flyover.
They will take six minutes to fly over the crowd and are expected to include more than three times the number of planes that took part in the Queen’s last birthday parade in central London in 2019.
The display will include Royal Navy and Army helicopters and RAF aircraft recently seen responding to events in Kabul and Ukraine and the coronavirus pandemic.
The air parade will also include highlights from RAF history, including aircraft from the Royal Air Force Battle of Britain Memorial Flight.
The air parade will follow Trooping The Colour, as Elizabeth II’s birthday parade is known. 1,500 officers and soldiers and 250 horses from the Army’s Home Division participate in this display of military pomp.
“I am proud that the Armed Forces are leading the nation’s celebration with such a spectacular display,” said British Defense Secretary Ben Wallace.
“Throughout the Platinum Jubilee celebrations we will all enjoy the experience, skill and talent of our Armed Forces as we celebrate Her Majesty’s 70 years on the throne,” added Wallace.
