After a first early heat wave, the mercury will drop at the start of the week in southern Quebec, while stormy rains are expected in certain areas.
Temperatures will drop to 18 degrees in the west of the province, while in areas in Montreal, cloudy weather is expected followed by rain showers with temperatures between 24 and 26 degrees.
“Amounts of 50 to 80 millimeters of rain are expected in these regions from Monday afternoon until Tuesday morning,” said Environment Canada, which issued alerts for the sectors of the North crown of Montreal.
The weather will also be cloudy elsewhere, with rain beginning in the afternoon, particularly in Beauce and Estrie, while in Quebec and Saguenay, the showers should end in the morning, according to forecasts from the federal agency.
In the east of the province, the rain should stop in the morning to give way to an alternation of sun and clouds, while temperatures will be bearable in the Bas-Saint-Laurent and relatively cold on the North Shore.
Rainy weather is forecast for Tuesday with temperatures falling significantly, while it will be between 14 and 18 degrees in the south and the center of the province and colder in the sectors a little further north.
