It was the neighbors who raised the alarm and the Local Police who confirmed the events. The police force has denounced a man for serious animal abuse of three dogs in the capital of Gran Canaria, which he kept in cages in his home and kicked and punched.

The Mediation and Coexistence Unit (UMEC) of the Municipal Security Corps began the investigation thanks to citizen collaboration, which ensures that it is “fundamental” in this type of case. Residents in the area had already seen the 24-year-old commit continuous assaults on three dogs when he took them out for a walk.

Agents specializing in animal protection then carried out actions to identify the owner of the dogs and inspect their condition, verifying that the animals remain in independent cages that their owner had inside the house.

During the investigation, the agents took video recordings where they were able to clearly observe the reported aggressions, consisting of kicks and punches that the 24-year-old gave his three dogs in a “cruel” and “unjustified” manner, according to what he has done. include the local police in the proceedings.

The three dogs were removed from their owner as a precaution and have been treated by the Public Health Service of the City Council.

After informing the judicial authority in case the facts were of a criminal nature, the Local Police has formulated the complaints for three very serious infractions, one for each dog, for animal abuse, each punished with fines of more than 1,500 euros and being able to carry the definitive withdrawal of the animals.
