In search of new sources of income, Elon Musk’s online platform X has introduced a more expensive subscription version without any advertising. In Germany it costs a good 19 euros per month.
In the only subscription model to date for 9.52 euros, the number of advertisements is halved. In addition to the more expensive subscription, X also introduced a cheaper version at the weekend for 3.57 euros with fewer functions.
A year ago, Musk bought the short message service Twitter for $44 billion and renamed it X. Ad revenue, which has always been the basis of Twitter’s business, then halved as companies fear a more negative environment for their brands. The tech billionaire is increasingly trying to fill the gap with subscription revenue.
The new subscription tiers were introduced without the ability for existing subscription customers to switch between them without canceling. This function should only follow in a few weeks.
