The provincial vice president of Vox in Burgos, José María Santaolalla, submits his resignation to the party leadership after learning that he was sanctioned by environmental agents for allegedly having shot down a roe deer in a prohibited area, as stated in today’s edition Burgos newspaper.
According to the newspaper, the events occurred on April 30. Santaolalla was denounced for presumably hunting in a restricted area of Modúbar de la Emparedada (Burgos). He was accompanied by another person when they were surprised by personnel from the Territorial Environment Service. After verifying that they lacked authorization to practice hunting in that area, the corresponding complaint was filed. Diario de Burgos also points out that it stated that they were using blood dogs – trained to recover badly injured animals and prevent them from being abandoned in the bush – during the hunting action and that “they refused to hand over the killed specimen to environmental agents ».
As reported by Vox in a statement, Santaolalla, who is also deputy secretary of Organization in the province, maintains that he did not participate in the events but decides, “in order not to damage the political formation to which he belongs”, to withdraw from the positions he held until the facts are clear.
