The president of the Spanish Olympic Committee (COE), Alejandro Blanco, expressed this Wednesday his “commitment” to the candidacy for the 2030 Winter Olympics with the presence of the Pyrenees, Aragon and Catalonia “aligned with the technical requirements” of the IOC and as soon as possible.

In a statement, Alejandro Blanco recalled that on July 8, 2021, he presented this project to the president of the IOC, Thomas Bach, in a letter that included the letters of intent of the presidents of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, as well as the Generalitat of Catalonia. , Pere Aragonés, and from Aragón, Javier Lambán.

In addition, the COE stressed that “it will continue to work” as it has done up to now in the preparation of the necessary documentation for the presentation of a candidacy project for the 2030 Games “in the Pyrenees, Catalonia and Aragon”, which responds to the technical requirements of the IOC and aligned with it.

Likewise, the body chaired by Blanco promised to continue the “necessary contacts” with those responsible for the governments of Catalonia and Aragon “with the aim of materializing the presentation of said candidacy project as soon as feasible.”
