Le Canard enchaîné, in its edition of this Wednesday, reveals that the license of the president of the French Rugby Federation Bernard Laporte has been taken over for the 2017-2018, 2018-2019 and 2019-2020 seasons by the PACA League (Provence -Alpes-Côte d’Azur), then chaired by his friend Henri Mondino, vice-president of the FFR. Information confirmed by L’Equipe who was able to consult the League’s account books where two lines “LIC LAPORTE” appear for a first cost of €596 (the first two seasons) and a second of €295 (the third season) . It was therefore the clubs of Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur who paid for the license of the president of the FFR. Bernard Laporte’s license fees were also re-invoiced to the PACA League by RC Toulon who did not want to pay. Asked by the sports daily, Bernard Laporte, Henri Mondino and the French Federation did not respond.

It took three years of legal battle for a Var club manager to have his League’s account books communicated to him, Henri Mondino exhausting all remedies (CADA, Administrative Court, Council of State) to obstruct this request for transparency. This will have cost 19,000 euros in legal fees to the PACA League. The President of the French Federation is also being prosecuted for suspicion of favoritism (5 offenses have been retained: illegal taking of interests, influence peddling, passive corruption, concealment of abuse of corporate assets, abuse of trust and property social) towards Mohed Altrad, president of the Montpellier club and sponsor of the XV of France, by the National Financial Prosecutor’s Office will be tried by the Paris Criminal Court from September 7 to 22.
