Two years later, the City Council of Torrijos can once again organize the usual Fiestas del Cristo with various events for all audiences that will take place from today, Wednesday, to Monday, May 23. Already in his presentation, the mayor of Torrijos, Anastasio Arevalillo, made a call for moderation, pointing out that “although these festivities are around a very important day for Torrijos and understanding that people want to celebrate, do it in the most moderate possible since the pandemic is not over yet.

For her part, the Councilor for Celebrations, Ester Martínez Palomo, has valued «that they are a festival expected by all, a very marked May 19 in the calendar of all Torrijeños and for this we have prepared a program that mix traditional acts with religious ones».

Along the same lines, he wanted the population to “enjoy these festivities that we have prepared with even more enthusiasm, if possible.”

The programming begins tonight, Wednesday at 9:30 p.m. in the Plaza de España with the copla show ‘Jaleo’, starring María Rubí and Ariadna Flores. Thursday, the day of the Christ of the Blood, is reserved for religious acts, with a floral offering and solemn mass (from 11.30 a.m. in the Plaza del Cristo) and a procession (at 9 p.m. departing from the Capilla del Cristo ). At the end of the latter, there will be a fireworks display.

On Friday a Tribute to Mecano is scheduled (at 10:30 p.m. in the Plaza de España) and then there will be a mobile disco with Pablo Rico DJ, Samu DJ and Jonas DJ (at 11:30 p.m. in the Maesa fairgrounds).

On Saturday, the Provincial Chess Cup for school children will be held (from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Municipal Sports Pavilion) and in the afternoon, the children’s show ‘Kids music festival’ will be offered (at 6 p.m. in the porticoed courtyard of the Palacio of Peter I). For the night, there is a popular verbena scheduled, by the ‘Miami Show’ orchestra (at 10:30 p.m. in the Plaza de España) and a Remember Reggaeton Party with DJ Piñu and Dani López, Álvaro Castaño and Alberto L (at 00.00 hours at the ‘Maesa’ fairgrounds).

On Sunday, ‘Torrisport’ will take place, a sports and adventure festival for all ages, with a masterclass, a climbing wall, an American track, balance bikes, golf, etc. (from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Municipal Sports Pavilion) and that in the next few days its programming and schedules for all activities will be announced. At night, theater lovers can enjoy the comedy ‘Infieles’, performed by ‘La Recua Teatro’ and Ícaro Teatro Lab, suitable for people over 14 years of age, (at 9:00 p.m. in the auditorium of the Palace of Pedro I) . Finally, on Monday, May 23, ‘Children’s Day’ will take place, starting at 5:00 p.m. at the fair with the reduction in the price of the attractions.
