Mercadona will donate 1.5 million euros to help refugees from the war in Ukraine, as a show of support and solidarity with the Ukrainian people.
The aid will materialize from June to December in ‘society cards’ of 50 euros each, with the aim of helping to cover the basic expenses of people who arrive in Spain and Portugal in any of the stores of the supermarket chain.
With this collaboration, the Valencian company expects to help around 5,000 refugees. The delivery of the cards will be carried out through the authorized entities within the official reception plans for displaced persons from Ukraine in Spain and Portugal.
At the same time, the aid will be complemented with donations of basic necessities to the Reception, Attention and Referral Centers (CREADE) for Ukrainian refugees located in various parts of Spain, depending on the needs that these spaces transfer to the company.
