The XXVI Edition of the ‘Music Nights in the atrium of San Lorenzo’ in Segovia, which begins this May 20, will be held next Friday nights until July 1 with a program that this year aims to make « public dance”.

This was presented on May 12 by the mayor of Segovia, Clara Luquero, and the Councilor for Culture, Alberto Espinar, who were accompanied by the president of the neighborhood association ‘La Parrilla’, Félix Maroto, reports Europa Press.

«We must recognize the association for the work of creating the project and the effort to organize it year after year in a generous and altruistic way and for having consolidated it as one of the reference cycles in the city that attracts the residents of the neighborhood and the residents from other neighborhoods,” said Clara Luquero.

Music Nights in the Atrium is one of the most consolidated cultural activities in the city and throughout its history has scheduled the performance of groups and soloists of the most varied musical styles, both Castilian music, pop, rock, soul , rumba or even copla. Segovia City Council maintains its economic collaboration of 14,000 euros with the Association by signing an agreement, which also includes the Huerta de San Lorenzo poetry contest.

«It has become one of those cycles that is expected and demanded not only by the people of the neighborhood, but also by the citizens of Segovia, who await the arrival of the end of May and the beginning of June to stop by San Lorenzo in that unique and magical space such as the atrium of the Romanesque church of San Lorenzo”, Alberto Espinar assured.

For his part, Félix Maroto has stated that the association has made an effort to try a program of “the most attractive and important”, since last year the cycle was held with limited capacity and with the public seated.

This year’s programming includes the ‘Tuna de Magisterio de Segovia’, whose performance will be on May 20; ‘The children with red eyes’, who will perform on May 27; ‘A Traque Barraque’, on June 3; ‘Los Gandules’, whose performance will be on June 10; Huecco ‘Acústico Salvaje’, on June 17; and Xixco Feijoó, in collaboration with Folk Segovia, on July 1.

The concerts will start at 10:00 p.m. or 10:30 p.m.

«In this city there has always been a concept of culture as a social creation as a creation of the entire city, not only the projects promoted directly by the Department of Culture of the City Council of Segovia matter and involve the City Council, it cares about everything what happens in the city, what other entities and groups create, other people, because together the cultural program of Segovia is enriched”, settled the mayor.
