The Ministry of Culture and Sports will include the rehabilitation of 14 stained glass windows in Burgos Cathedral in the National Plan for Cathedrals. The action will be carried out by the Institute of Cultural Heritage of Spain (IPCE), dependent on the General Directorate of Cultural Heritage and Fine Arts.

As reported by the Ministry in a statement sent to Ical, the action responds to the commitment made by the Minister of Culture and Sports, Miquel Iceta, during his visit to Burgos Cathedral on April 19.

The Ministry will take on the necessary actions to restore 14 stained-glass windows in the constable’s chapel, which were damaged as a result of the occupation of the city by Napoleon’s troops at the beginning of the 19th century.

In a few days, IPCE technicians will visit Burgos Cathedral to assess the situation of the stained glass windows and program the works to be carried out, which will be included in the National Cathedral Plan for the 2023 financial year.
