Ferries will be free under a Quebec Liberal Party government, leader Dominique Anglade announced on Saturday.

It was during a visit to the Magdalen Islands that the Liberal leader made the announcement. “Just because there’s no highway doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be able to travel somewhere for free,” she said in a Twitter post. The commitment is part of the Charter of the regions of political formation, presented last April.
For a couple with a car 21 feet or less, a passage on the ferry that travels between Souris, Prince Edward Island, and the Madelinot archipelago costs about $220 before taxes.
