The Diputación de Alicante will pay 20,000 euros for the emergency works to consolidate and value the constructive remains of the Frau hydraulic mill, in Benimassot, a building that dates back to the 19th century and whose advanced state of ruin puts the safety of the zone.

The deputy for Architecture, José Ramón González de Zárate, visited the site on Monday together with the mayor of the town, Ismael Molinés, and a team of technicians from the Provincial Council led by Rafael Pérez, director of the Architecture area. Thus, he has highlighted the “effort and interest” to recover historical and cultural assets of the province.

The works of the Frau mill will begin in August to stop the deterioration of the structure together with the adaptation of the road access, the pruning of the vegetation around and inside the building’s patio and the recovery of the remains of the existing machinery, among other actions .

In addition, the deputy has also supervised the state of the Hostal de Benimassot to study the viability of future conservation and reinforcement actions by the provincial institution.

On the other hand, González de Zárate has also been interested in the progress of the urban planning of Benimassot, in which the Diputación is currently working.
