The Spanish Olympic Committee (COE) has reported this Monday that the eleventh meeting between representatives of the central government, the Generalitat of Catalonia, the Government of Aragon and the sports body has ended “without agreement” in order to present a candidacy for the Games 2030 Winter Olympics.
«The eleventh meeting has taken place between representatives of the Government of Spain, the Generalitat of Catalonia and the Government of Aragon, with the Spanish Olympic Committee, in relation to the presentation to the IOC of a candidacy for the celebration of the Olympic Games of Winter in the Pyrenees, in Aragon and in Catalonia. Said meeting has ended without an agreement to be able to present a joint project,” said the statement issued by the COE.
Faced with this situation, the president of the organization, Alejandro Blanco, “and with the support of the Government of Spain”, expressed his decision to “continue his work in order to present a technically unbeatable project, sustainable in social, economic and environmental terms” . “That it contributes to the regeneration of the host territory, and that, at the same time, responds to the requirements and regulations of the International Olympic Committee,” he added.
For which, the COE will continue “evaluating the best options”, with the aim of “being able to materialize the presentation of said candidacy”.
