A British tourist was arrested last weekend at the Alicante-Elche airport after assaulting three National Police officers. The man, with obvious signs of drunkenness, responded aggressively when the police asked him for the necessary passport to set foot on Spanish soil. Realizing that he was not wearing it, he reacted very aggressively and injured three officers.
According to police sources, this is the second similar incident that takes place in the same week and the agents are completely overwhelmed by the work overload that the United Kingdom’s exit from the European Union has meant.
Agents must now stamp the passports of all British tourists landing at Alicante-Elche airport, which are approximately 45% of the total volume of passengers at this aerodrome.
