World N.3 and outgoing semi-finalist Paula Badosa ejected French Fiona Ferro (130th) from Roland-Garros in the first round in 54 minutes 6-2, 6-0 on Tuesday.
After the entry eliminations of Barbora Krejcikova, world No.2 and holder of the trophy, and Ons Jabeur, world No.6 and one of the serious candidates for the title, Badosa held her rank with authority.
The 24-year-old Spaniard hit 25 winners for only thirteen unforced errors. Five French players have so far reached the first round: Alizé Cornet, Diane Parry, Caroline Garcia, Elsa Jacquemot and Léolia Jeanjean.
