«Madrid is an island in the middle of nowhere, Madrid is a bad saint and a good sister, Madrid is the tree that covers the forest, Madrid is home». This is from the Bird Sunrise song, and I think it’s a wonderful way to define this city. Its cultural and gastronomic offer, diversity. The space to transgress and evolve. It is also the logistics and the one that allows you to fulfill dreams.
In Madrid I like to run through the Casa de Campo, close to the wall that reaches the Castilla highway, cross the train tracks, go down to the lake, and end up having breakfast in La Manzana.
I also enjoy walking around Madrid Río with the children. And eating some scrambled eggs with ham in a neighborhood with tradition like Carabanchel, sitting on one of those terraces that occupy only a piece of sidewalk, with a beer with lemon.
I also like going to the movies. To anybody. I love to still enjoy the cinema.
I like to get lost in La Latina, because of the architecture of the buildings, the taste in the restaurants, the variety and quality of the gastronomy, the weekend atmosphere and its mythical Teatro de La Latina, where you have to see ‘Ser or not to be’. Other plans for these days are Las Noches del Botánico, quality music in a unique setting, or the play ‘Ternura’, at the Infanta Isabel
I am very athletic. I practice what is so fashionable now, ‘crossfit’. I do it in the Animal Factory Box, which occupies a warehouse within the Villaverde industrial estate. There, between transport trucks that connect Madrid with all parts of the country, we practice this sport that so many communities create.
As for shops and restaurants, I love Dr Limón. In la Latina, for its ‘brunch’ and homemade cakes. Also the burgers at Mad Café and El Viva Burger. And the Sin Tarima Libros bookstore.
