According to the Marseille prosecutor’s Office, the victim, who was seriously injured by a Swiss knife attack in front of a Marseille school, died from his injuries in May. This information is consistent with the weekly Le Point.

The attacker had struck the victim in the chest as he was trying to collect his children from school. Witnesses who witnessed the attack overpowered the attacker while they waited for the intervention by the police who then proceeded with the arrest of him, according to a police source.

The attacker, who is French by birth, would have stated before investigators that he had acted “in God’s name”. He would have also mentioned “the devil”.

The investigators have ruled out the terrorist hypothesis. According to them, the man may suffer from psychological disorders.

The assailant was charged with “attempted voluntary murder” and sentenced to prison.
