The Jarnac Municipal Youth Council was accompanied by Camille Legay (deputy), Claude Charrier (deputy), former head of Rouillac Rescue Center, Pierre Demont (deputy), and Marie Forgit (another elected official) who were welcomed by Captain Benoit Lavigne. This visit was both a surprise and a delight for the young people. They asked many questions and knew very well a few emergency numbers (ndeg 18, ndeg 112).
“This Center is the only one in Europe that fights potable alcohol. It employs 14 trainers and prepares young firefighters for heavy-duty vehicle licensing. They also train in roadside assistance.” The captain described the facilities, vehicles, educational material, vehicles, and chai. A simulation of a fire and a simulation with driver rescue was given to the children. It is clear that some of the children expressed a desire to be a professional or volunteer firefighter after they left.
