Jean-Christophe Cambadelis, former first secretary of the Socialist Party, presented on Monday his social-democratic manifesto to “refound a real left” against Jean-Luc Melenchon and the “tutelage left radical”. Jean-Christophe Cambadelis stated that the “dynamic is not there” for the June 12th and 19 legislative elections.

He stated that “something is missing to mobilize people, a practical, realistic path, and a social-democratic Left”, Its “manifesto”, which outlines several principles, includes the search for “compromises” to ease “future crises”, affirmation of the “market economic” sine qua non condition for “producing maximum wealth compatible with this that Nature can give”, and a commitment against “breaking social equality” via redistribution or even the “strengthening the European Union”.

Jean-Christophe Cambadelis stated that he would give himself one year to create a more detailed program. He called for “all those who believe and support a realistic left” not to be “everyone’s enemy” but to come together. He cited Stephane Le Foll, Carole Delga, president of Occitanie, Bernard Cazeneuve, and Francois Hollande.

Jean-Christophe Cambadelis warned that “The PS must be a social democratic or else a new political party will need to be formed.” Olivier Faure, who was the first secretary, saw himself as a substitute for the refoundation. He made “contortions to Europe, the economy, and the Republic” on the occasion of the Nupes agreement. Jean-Christophe Cambadelis said that Melenchon is “not a problem for us, it’s not a concern for me”, but “this facade union will explode as soon as there’s a social democratic proposal”.
