On the occasion of the commemoration of the Day of Castilla-La Mancha that is celebrated this Tuesday, Cerveza La Sagra launches the ‘Manchego Dictionary in 101 words’. An extensive glossary that has been written by the historian José García Cano, corresponding academician in Consuegra of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts and Historical Sciences of Toledo and Diploma in Genealogy, Heraldry and Nobility by the Royal Association of Hidalgos of Spain.
Along with the historian, as an expert in genealogical and emblematic sources, archives and documentation, the brand has promoted this initiative that aims to rescue some of the most characteristic words of Castilla-La Mancha, highlighting the uses and customs that define all those people who, by birth or by adoption, live in the region where the brewery was born.
“We are very proud of the launch of this dictionary. A glossary with which we want to rescue some of the words that most define us as Castilian-La Mancha, with many of which I grew up and grew up, and to be able to share them not only with our countrymen but with the whole world”, affirms Carlos García, CEO and Founder of Beer LA SAGRA.
There are 101 words that make up the repertoire of this document, terms that have been selected based on their repeated use among the population, their peculiar meaning –sometimes different between areas of the same region-, and their origin. A lexicon that includes part of the linguistic wealth of all the provinces of Castilla-La Mancha: Albacete, Ciudad Real, Cuenca, Guadalajara and, especially, Toledo, cradle of the 3 cultures and origin of the brand.
Those who want to consult this ‘Manchego Dictionary in 101 Words’ from Cerveza La Sagra will be able to acquire it through a raffle on the brand’s social networks, as a gift for purchases over 50 euros in its online store, or consult it, online, through the brand’s website where it will also be available for download.
