The first El Corte Inglés hotel, located in two adjoining buildings in the Salamanca district, is closer to becoming a reality. The Madrid City Council approved yesterday in the Cibeles plenary session a special plan for the plots at numbers 89 Calle de Goya and 3 Conde de Peñalver, both owned by the department store company, to group them together and be able to implement the use hosting together. In this way, a better ordering of the set will be achieved.
The final approval also assesses the impact that the implementation of this use may have on the field. Thus, it affects two plots with constructed buildings that add up to a total area of 9,126 square meters
. “These are plots cataloged with protection level 3, partial degree, which affects the facades, portals and interior stairs, which are mandatory restoration elements,” they explain from the Urban Development Area directed by Mariano Fuentes (Cs) .
Currently, the buildings have commercial premises on the ground floor and the first, and the upper floors are unoccupied. There are only a few rented houses, whose tenants have agreed with the property to voluntarily vacate the houses.
The buildings will be used exclusively for tertiary lodging use, in an establishment in which approximately 111 rooms are planned, maintaining commercial use on the ground and first floors. “This transformation will improve the conditions of accessibility, removal of barriers and fire safety for the entire building,” they say from the city council: “The farms are located inside ring 2 of the Special Accommodation Plan (PEH), approved during the past mandate. The implementation of the hotel use in these buildings complies with all the requirements established in said plan so that it can be carried out. It also has favorable relevant reports.”
As for the provision of compulsory parking spaces and the provision of loading and unloading spaces, they will be located in the parking garage in Plaza de Felipe II or in nearby locations.
