Five fire crews from the Community of Madrid have controlled a fire in a “quite widespread” six-storey building on Wednesday night that has left eleven people mildly intoxicated by smoke inhalation at number 69 Cañada street, in the Madrid town of Torrejón de Ardoz, as reported to Europa Press by a spokesman for Emergencies 112 Community of Madrid.
The fire, which has been spectacular, has started on the fourth floor letter A and has affected “quite a lot” a house in the building. A large part of the neighbors have been evicted while those on the upper floors have remained confined and some of them have gone up to the roof.
The firefighters have “quickly” controlled the fire and have ventilated the block.
The local police have preventively evicted the property.
Several units of SUMMA 112 have also traveled to the scene of the fire, which have treated eleven people with mild intoxication due to smoke inhalation and six of them have been transferred to hospital with a mild prognosis. The Torrejón de Ardoz Local Police has taken charge of the investigation to clarify what happened.
