Manuel Neuer can only be amazed at Harry Kane. And Bayern coach Thomas Tuchel can basically only repeat himself in praising the 100 million euro man after every big goal appearance by the 30-year-old Englishman.

“He is a phenomenon,” said captain Neuer after the German soccer champions’ 2-1 (0-0) win against Galatasaray Istanbul. Kane was the match winner again as a two-time goalscorer and shot Munich to victory in the group and into the round of 16 of the Champions League.

“I can’t tell you anything else,” Tuchel answered when asked about Kane’s performances: “The performance tells the story, no further words are needed.”

Leading figure in the Munich star ensemble

Kane continued his current super run. In the last three games for FC Bayern he scored three times in the Bundesliga against Darmstadt and Dortmund and now also twice in the premier class. The most expensive purchase in Bayern’s history comes after 15 competitive games with 19 goals this season. “As a striker, I obviously enjoy scoring goals,” said Kane. “I feel like I’m getting to know the guys better and better every game.”

Before his double celebration against Galatasaray in the 80th and 86th minutes, the captain of the English national team also hit the post. He had to wait an extremely long time for his first goal to be confirmed because there was brief irritation with the video evidence. “We can rely on him,” Neuer said of Kane.

The English striker has quickly developed into a new leading figure in Munich’s star ensemble. “It’s nice and I enjoy it. I love scoring goals and winning. It was a great night,” said Kane, who is not surprised about his own goal run. “I wouldn’t say I’m surprised, but of course I’m really happy.”
