The company Fico Mirrors, located in the city of Soria, has insisted that, if they do not opt ??for an ERTE, a restructuring of the workforce will be “inevitable, with an estimated impact of some 99 jobs”, as they have indicated through a statement collected by Ep.
The company, dedicated to the automotive industry and with the largest number of employees in Soria -660 at present-, has recalled that a study process has been initiated “to adjust its structure to the current context” due to the completion of the current ERTE next June 30th.
The company’s will is to “manage the drop in sales caused by the global automotive situation so that it does not compromise its long-term viability, protecting the future of Fico Mirrors.”
In this sense, the simulation of income statements, “which was shared with the representation of the workers”, estimated that, in the period from July to December 2022, there will be net losses of 2.3 million euros, “ in case of not taking action in the face of the current drop in sales in the sector».
The company has stated that “the uncertainty caused by the war in Ukraine and the evolution of inflation and interest rates may last for the next few months and until 2023.” However, “as of 2024, a recovery in sales is expected, as articulated in the Viability Plan, which is based on projects whose award has already been confirmed and which, in some cases, would be in force until 2030”, they have insured.
The company located in Soria has recalled that it is “assessing the option of undertaking a permanent measure to restructure the workforce, or continue opting for the ERTE route to avoid job destruction, keeping jobs waiting for that the market improves. The company has recalled that, at the present time, not opting for this tool “will make a restructuring inevitable, with an estimated impact of some 99 jobs.”
The company has ratified its “willingness to dialogue and collaborate with the employees with the aim of finding the best formula that combines the interests of the workers with the viability of the Fico Mirrors project”.
Thus, on May 25 and last Thursday, June 9, specific meetings were held with the workers’ representatives. The company anticipates new talks with the Works Council throughout this week to continue assessing the possible scenarios.
