Jan-Lennard Struff has to wait for his first ATP title. At the end of the tennis season, the Sauerlander missed his third final of the year with a 3:6, 4:6 defeat against the British Jack Draper.
The 33-year-old Struff went into the semi-finals as the favorite, but had to admit defeat after just under an hour and a half. The unseeded Draper had also defeated Nuremberg’s Maximilian Marterer in the first round of the tournament. The hard court tournament in Sofia is endowed with 562,815 euros.
Struff reached the finals of the Masters 1000 tournament in Madrid and Stuttgart this year, but lost in both cases. He was in top shape before he injured his hip, had to take a long break and had to cancel Wimbledon and the US Open, among others.
