At a wedding, a friend of mine introduced me to the landlady – saying that I was the family’s “family doctor”. A little later she took me aside and said she had something to tell me. Her father-in-law dropped dead at the age of 50: a heart attack. Now her brother-in-law, her husband’s brother, has had heart surgery and has had several bypasses. He just turned 50. She is very worried about her husband, 48 years old – that he too might have something close to his heart.
