It’s about 1.4 tons of cocaine, drug smuggling in luxury cars and a former TV emigrant and reality star: a trial against a suspected drug gang from the Aachen area begins on Wednesday (9:00 a.m.) in front of the Aachen district court. The five accused, three men and two women between the ages of 32 and 60, are said to have accepted or delivered the drugs. The accusation is illicit trafficking in narcotics in large quantities. It carries a prison sentence of up to 15 years.
Jürgen Albers (60), known as an emigrant to Mallorca on the TV show “Goodbye Germany”, is accused of being the suspected mastermind. The man from Eschweiler is said to have organized vehicles with smuggling hiding places and provided drivers. Albers and three other defendants are in custody. His lawyer said his client denied the allegations made in the indictment but was willing to cooperate with the court.
By early December, the court has scheduled 24 appointments. The presumption of innocence applies to the accused until the final conclusion of the proceedings.
