Specifically, on October 17th, the woman is said to have spread her call for arson and riots in the Berlin district of Neukölln the following day at 10 p.m. via the online service Instagram. She referred to the conflict between Israel and Hamas and stated that she wanted to turn Neukölln into Gaza. According to their call, supporters should have brought stones, batons and masks.
In fact, according to the public prosecutor’s office, riots with around 150 participants took place in Neukölln on October 18th. Accordingly, vehicles were set on fire and police officers were shot at with pyrotechnics. 65 officers were injured. The accused is said to have then published videos of the riots and welcomed the acts. She is therefore suspected of condoning crimes.
In connection with the woman’s arrest, there were also searches by investigators from the Berlin State Criminal Police Office on Wednesday morning. Two cell phones were confiscated and their data is being evaluated. The woman was due to appear before a judge on Wednesday.
Further investigations were ongoing. Against the backdrop of the war, there have been riots and anti-Semitic incidents in connection with pro-Palestinian events for more than a month in Berlin and other German cities.
