Two people were killed in a knife attack on the well-known hotel strip in Las Vegas. Six others were injured, three seriously, a Las Vegas police spokesman said. A suspect has been arrested.

A large kitchen knife was found at the crime scene as a likely weapon. The police spokesman did not initially comment on the possible motive. Initially, there was talk of one dead and five injured.

The incident reportedly happened on the northern part of Las Vegas Boulevard near the Encore and Wynn hotels and the Fashion Show shopping center. The Las Vegas Review-Journal newspaper, citing eyewitnesses, reported that among those attacked were several women in showgirl costumes often seen on the Las Vegas Strip. Some of the victims were attacked on a pedestrian bridge.
